In observance of Surgeon’s Week june 13 and World Blood Donation Day, a blood donation camp was organized by the Department of Surgery at the Blood Centre of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS), Sidhra.
Organized under the aegis of the J&K Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI), the camp was inaugurated by Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal of ASCOMS, along with Dr K S Mehta, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery. A total of 32 units of blood were voluntarily donated by faculty members, residents, students, staff, and members of the local community.
Alongside the donation drive, an awareness programme was held to dispel common myths and misconceptions associated with blood donation. The initiative aimed at educating the public about the safety and importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.
