Introduction

Dr. Pavan Malhotra has completed his MD (Pharmacology) from Govt. Medical College, Jammu, joined as Lecturer in Pharmacology, rose to become Prof & Head. He is a dedicated professional and shows high commitment towards the subject of Pharmacology.

In 2016, he was appointed as Director Principal of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital. He has 30 years of teaching experience including 17 years of administrative experience out of which more than 9 year is as Director Principal. He obtained MRCP & FRCP from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and FRCP from Edinburg, UK. He is also Fellow International Medical Sciences Academy (FIMSA) and Member, National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (MAMS). He is also member of various scientific organizations like American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), American College of Clinical Pharmacology and National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. He was conferred with award of appreciation by Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir and ICICI Bank Ltd. for heading team ASCOMS in fighting with CoVID-19 in Jammu Region. He was awarded Ph D (Pharmacology & Medical Education), Honoris Causa, by the Thames International University, Paris, France. He has recently been appointed as the International Advisor (India) to The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow for a three year term (2025-2028). He is also the President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jammu Branch (2025-2027).

Dr. Malhotra was also the Coordinator of Pharmacovigilance Center of this Institute. He is Chairman, International Medical Sciences Academy (J&K Chapter) 2014 – till date, he was also the President of Indian Society of Rational Pharmacotherapeutics, J&K Chapter (2013-2025). Also he is the Member of the Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD), an affiliate organization of IPPNW (International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War) and I-CAN, both Nobel peace prize winners in 1985 and other one in 2017. He has attended and presented papers at various national and international conferences including one at Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Scotland on 24th & 25th August, 2018. He has been co-investigator in number of research projects sponsored by various national and international agencies. He also an author of a book titled “Manual of Practical Pharmacology”. The first edition was published in 2009-2010 and the third edition is in press and will be published in the month of December 2022.

Dr. Malhotra was also selected to represent the State of J&K for the National Training course on promoting rational use of drugs, which was jointly organized by WHO and International Network of Rational Use of Drugs (INRUD), USA in the year 1998. He was nominated as the member of the National Committee by WHO-SEARO (South-East Asia Regional Office) for defining the teaching curriculum in Pharmacology to Undergraduate students. He has undergone Basic Course Workshop (BCW) Medical Education Technology in the year 2010 and Attitude, Ethics and Communication (AETCOM) skill development of undergraduate students in 2015 under the aegis of the then Medical Council of India, Govt. of India. Also he has undergone Revised Basic Course Workshop (rBCW) course Medical Education Technology in the month of September 2021, which was organized by Nodal Center, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana under the aegis of National Medical Commission (Erstwhile Medical Council of India), Govt. of India.

Dr. Malhotra is member of various Advisory committee’s of J&K Govt./ University of Jammu and is also the expert member of University Inspection Team for granting Affiliation to various Courses of Medical and Para-medical Sciences being imparted by University of Jammu for He is also the member of the Advisory Board and reviewer of International Journal of Applied Medical Research. He was also Associate Editor of Journal of Research in Medical Education and Ethics. He is also certified peer reviewer by Research Academy, Elsevier. He has 86 publications to his credit.
